Sever's Disease
I think the important thing to note here, is that is isn't actually a "disease". It makes it sound a lot scarier than it is, but I know if your child has Sever's you're likely to google this and see it.
Sever's is common in kids aged 8-14, typically when they are going through a growth spurt. You might notice them limping during or after a sport or activity and sometimes you can see swelling and redness in the area.

Sever's happens when the achilles pulls on the growth plate in the heel bone excessively, causing pain. Management involves icing, footwear modifications, exercises, and load management.
